NYFW - Marc Jacobs SS15

Marc Jacobs

Military
Oversized
Grunge
Tailored

Marc Jacobs closed this years NYFW with his regimented collection of military inspired clothes. His theme was uniform dressing and conformity - this was clear from the shapes of his clothes to the identical box cut wigs on his models and no makeup. The clothes were anywhere from army to jumpsuits to shift dresses. The models walked around a pink gravel path with a pink pepto house in the middle - serious set and clothes contrast which totally worked.

Here are my favourites -

VB in VOGUE

Victoria Beckham landed herself two VOGUE UK covers for the August issue. Going back to her English roots, our fave spice girl dressed down into Hunter wellies and Chanel (of course) for a beautiful rustic shoot. She was photographed by Patrick Demarchelier in the English countryside complete with cute dog and lots of lavender! i love it

Banned lingerie mannequins

When this mannequin was spotted in a window of La Perlas shop in NYC it caused social media uproar! The mannequin went a step too far in representing skinny, although to be fair to La Perlas painfully thin models are nothing new. It’s hit headlines this time because it's more palatable to criticise a shop dummy instead of a living breathing model. We aren’t used to seeing such raw-boned mannequins on the high street instead of the catwalk either.
As a visual merchandiser i work with mannequins everyday - the mannequins in store are all dressed in a S (UK 6-8) - this to me is an unrealistic image of women in society today although, there is no denying that clothes do look better on a smaller frame.
For me this mannequin is a step too far, the protruding ribs and hip bones in red underwear just don't work, think how much sexier the curvy brunette from the special k adverts is compared to this!
let me know what you think ladies?

Branding - Handmade burger co.

One of my favourite places to eat in Birmingham, the Handmade burger co. With a boyfriend who could easily eat everything in the world, its the perfect place to grab dinner. As a creative i couldn't help but notice how good the branding was. The brand image is rustic and natural, the menus and interior are consistent and simple - the sketchy text and pictures tie in brilliantly with the brand and the sacks of potatoes inside add to that country family house atmosphere. The menus, table numbers and cutlery holders are also brilliantly on brand and consistent throughout.

Its definitely worth a visit if you're ever in brum!

fujifilm mini instax

I had a polaroid camera as a present of my boyfriend for my birthday and was the cutest thing ever! So easy to use and set up and the pictures develop really well. I obviously had a pink one but they come in a variety of different colours, available from urban outfitters and amazon (amazon is cheaper and comes with 20 films). Definitely recommend it :)

heres a few pics i took with mine...
